Marden In Bloom in May

We hope you all enjoyed the wonderful display of daffodils around the village – they certainly looked stunning particularly at the Library area nodding their heads amongst the historical artefacts. We will plant some more daffodils in the Autumn and if you would like to help or have an area where they could be planted, please let us know.

Planter Watering
The planters around the village are in desperate need of a water, so if you are able to give them a drop of water, that would be great.  Bloomers always struggle keeping the planters watered particularly through the Summer. We will be replanting the planters early June which should give a big splash of colour to help lift our spirits as we emerge from the pandemic.  We continue to work on both the Library area and at the Memorial Hall, and we have provided Marden School with sunflower seeds etc for the Early Years children to grow.

Library Area
Bloomers will be tidying up/weeding the area at the Library on Wednesday 5th May from 9.30am,  so if anybody can pop along to help, please let Anne know – anne.boswell@ymail.com

Plant Sale on Saturday 12th June8.30am-11.00am - near OneStop and Online
This year we are hoping to sell a variety of Dahlias and Cosmos – we have chosen pollinating varieties which should be ‘showstoppers’ – please watch out for further details.

Wildflower Meadow in Southons Field

We have slowly been clearing the Wildflower Meadow in Southons Field and many plants are emerging – let’s hope they put on a good display this Summer. It has been planted with a wide range of wildflower seeds to help attract a variety of bees, bugs and butterflies.

Fungi Photo Competition

This year’s photo competition is Fungi - tens of thousands of organisms, from mushrooms to mold to yeast, fall under the umbrella of fungi. Fungi are among the most widely distributed organisms on Earth and are of great environmental and medical importance. So why not get out there and explore trees, dead wood, fields to see what you can find – great to do with your children as well. The Marden Wildlife Facebook page has many great images of fungi on there. Please email your jPeg images to: mardeninbloom@outlook.com by the end of 2021.

We always need help with our projects, so if you can spare a little bit of time, even if an hour or two, please email: mardeninbloom@outlook.com or call Anne on 07828 868703.
